Tottenham agree Reguilon deal

According to various reports, Tottenham have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the signing of Sergio Reguilon. The 23-year-old left-back will join Spurs for 30 million euros on a 5-year contract. Manchester United were close to signing the Real Madrid academy product but were put off by Madrid’s demand for a buy-back clause.

Tottenham had no issues with including a buy-back in the deal. Spurs were happy to accept Real Madrid’s offer of a buy-back clause worth between 35 to 40 million euros. Real Madrid will be able to exercise the buy-back clause whenever they see fit.

With Marcelo and Ferland Mendy both ahead of Reguilon in the pecking order at Real Madrid, the left-back simply had no option but to leave the Spanish Champions.
