OFFICIAL: James Rodriguez joins Everton

James Rodriguez has officially signed a two year contract with Everton. The Colombian International has once again been reunited with coach Carlo Ancelotti. According to MARCA, Real Madrid will receive a transfer fee of 25 million euros for the midfielder and will also save eight million euros from his wages.

James has struggled for game time over the course of the past season making just 14 appearances racking up a measly 728 minutes in all competitions. James was unable to break into the starting XI, with Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Isco and Valverde all ahead of the Colombian in the pecking order. The former Real Madrid number 10 was clearly not part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans. The attacking midfielder was on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019 before Real Madrid pulled the plug on the transfer following an embarrassing 7-3 defeat to Diego Simeone’s side in pre-season.

James will hope that things will improve under Carlo Ancelotti, the man who has always managed to get the best out of him.

We would like to thank James for his time at Real Madrid and wish him the best of luck at Everton.
