Player Ratings: Real Sociedad 0-1 Real Madrid – 2023/24

A heavily rotated Real Madrid team clinched a hard-fought 1-0 win against Real Sociedad on Friday thanks to Arda Güler’s first half strike.

The win means Ancelotti’s side now only need four more points to mathematically become LaLiga champions for the thirty-sixth time. Real Madrid’s focus now shifts to Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 7.5/10

A solid display from Kepa who made a number of smart stops to deny Sociedad. Well earned clean sheet.

Dani Carvajal: 7.5/10

Carvajal is suspended for the first leg against Bayern Munich which is why he started tonight. The Spaniard assisted Güler’s winner with a smart cross across goal. Another brilliant performance.

Eder Militão: 6/10

Militão’s first start since August 12. The Brazilian made a number of mistakes and didn’t look too comfortable which is to be expected after eight months on the sidelines. Great to see him complete the full ninety minutes.

Nacho Fernandez: 7/10

A relatively solid performance for the Spaniard who was kept busy throughout the ninety minutes.

Fran Garcia: 7/10

Fran Garcia has improved a lot recently and he put in another very good shift tonight. The Spaniard was solid defensively and full of energy throughout.

Luka Modric: 7/10

Started for the second game in a row. The Croatian put in a fantastic shift and has once again found form at the most important part of the season.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 7.5/10

Tchouaméni started the game slowly but grew into it as time ticked on. The Frenchman played some excellent passes, including one for Güler’s goal.

Dani Ceballos: 5/10

A rare start for the Spaniard. Ceballos offered very little in the middle of the park in what was a pretty poor showing.

Arda Güler: 7.5/10

Started his first LaLiga game with Real Madrid. The Turk scored the winner with a well taken finish and looked sharp throughout the game.

Brahim Diaz: 5/10

A rather disappointing display from the Moroccan who barely had a sniff.

Joselu: 4/10

An anonymous display from the Spaniard who had no impact on the game.

Vinicius Jr: 6/10 Came on to replace Güler. Was sharp since coming on.

Federico Valverde: 6/10 Came on to replace Ceballos for his 47th appearance of the season.

Antonio Rüdiger: 6/10 Came on to replace Brahim Diaz.

Eduardo Camavinga: 6/10 Came on to replace Fran Garcia.
