Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7.5/10

Back in the starting line-up after 11 long months on the sidelines. The Belgian made some good saves and looked comfortable and solid throughout. Great to have him back.

Dani Carvajal: 7/10

Another impressive display from the Spaniard. Carvajal got forward well and made some key interventions at the back. He’ll be crucial against Bayern on Wednesday.

Eder Militão: 7/10

A decent showing from the Brazilian who looked solid despite a giveaway that he got away with. Another ninety minutes under his belt.

Nacho Fernandez: 7.5/10

Made a brilliant last ditch tackle to deny Sobrino. The Spaniard unselfishly assisted Joselu’s goal after a superb run through the Cadiz defence.

Fran Garcia: 7.5/10

Another solid performance from the Spaniard who’s looked a lot more comfortable lately. A constant threat down the left.

Luka Modric: 8/10

Continued his good run of form with some brilliant passes and deft touches on the ball. Assisted Brahim Diaz’s opener.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8/10

An excellent display from the Frenchman who consistently delivered forward passes and made a number of crucial interceptions to stop any Cadiz counter-attacks. Solid.

Dani Ceballos: 7/10

The quietest out of Madrid’s midfield three. The Spaniard was a lot better than he was against Real Sociedad.

Arda Güler: 7/10

Güler showed glimpses of his incredible quality on the ball, but the game didn’t provide enough space for him to truly showcase his magic. Nonetheless, he gained valuable minutes on the pitch.

Brahim Diaz: 8.5/10

A brilliant performance from the Moroccan who scored the opener with an incredible strike from outside the box before assisting Bellingham for Madrid’s second. Top class.

Joselu: 7/10

A rather frustrating outing for the Spaniard who got in all of the right areas but struggled due to lack of service. Finally got his goal in stoppage time after a brilliant run and assist by Nacho.

Substitutions:

Jude Bellingham: 7.5/10 – Came on to replace Güler. The Englishman scored immediately after coming on.

Vinicius Junior: 7/10 – Came on to replace Brahim Diaz. The Brazilian was excellent during his time on the pitch and was unlucky not to have registered a ridiculous rabona assist after Militão was denied by a brilliant save.

Federico Valverde: N/A – Came on to replace Camavinga late on.
