Player Ratings: Real Madrid 2-1 Osasuna – Copa del Rey final 2022/23

Real Madrid win the Copa del Rey for the 20th time thanks to a Rodrygo double. Carlo Ancelotti’s men managed to hold off a brave Osasuna side to win their first Copa del Rey since 2014.

With one title in the bag, the Champions League is now what will define Madrid’s season. Los Blancos’ attention turns to Tuesday’s first-leg of their Champions League semifinal against Manchester City.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Nothing the Belgian could do to stop Torro’s brilliant goal. The Belgian made a number of decent saves when Real Madrid were under pressure.

Dani Carvajal: 8/10

Made a number of huge blocks and goal line clearnaces. The Spaniard was back to his best, completely nullifying Abde and showing up when his team needed him the most. Excellent.

Eder Militao: 6.5/10

Looked shaky yet again. The Brazilian’s form has dropped off in recent weeks and that continued tonight. Far from his best.

David Alaba: 7/10

Made a number of crucial blocks and was solid at the back throughout. Unlucky not to have scored after striking the woodwork with a brilliant free-kick from 30 yards out.

Eduardo Camavinga: 7/10

Had a few good moments and others that were questionable. The Frenchman improved after switching to a midfield role and will be delighted to have won every possible trophy since joining Real Madrid.

Fede Valverde: 7/10

Had his work cut out for him in the middle of the park. The Uruguayan had a lot of defensive work to do and did a good job overall.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 7/10

Started ahead of Modric who Ancelotti didn’t want to risk. The Frenchman put in a decent shift in the first half but dropped off after the break.

Toni Kroos: 7.5/10

Real Madrid’s best midfielder on the night. The German barely put a foot wrong and kept things ticking in the middle of the park.

Rodrygo Goes: 9/10

The man for the big occasion. Rodrygo loves cup competitions and tonight was another example of that. The Brazilian stepped up when it mattered the most, scoring both of Real Madrid’s goals in the final.

Karim Benzema: 6/10

Well below his very high standards. The Frenchman missed a couple of decent goalscoring opportunities and didn’t make much of an impact.

Vinicius Jr: 9/10

A scintillating performance from the Brazilian who gave Moncayola a night to forget. Vini assisted Rodrygo for the opener and also forced the second. What a player.

Substitutions:

Antonio Rüdiger: 6/10 Came on to replace Alaba who only just returned from injury.

Luka Modric: N/A Came on to replace Toni Kroos late on.

Marco Asensio: N/A Came on to replace Rodrygo late on.
