Player Ratings: Real Betis 1-1 Real Madrid – 2023/24

Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw away to Real Betis as the Andalusian side end Los Blancos’ five match winning streak.

Jude Bellingham opened the scoring with his 16th goal of the season before Aitor Ruibal equalised with a magnificent strike from distance.

Despite the result, Real Madrid are still LaLiga leaders with a point advantage over second-placed Girona who face Barcelona on Sunday.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Andriy Lunin: 8/10

Given a start ahead of Kepa. The Ukrainian was brilliant once again but could do nothing to stop Ruibal’s wonder strike. Real Madrid escaped with a draw in large thanks to him.

Lucas Vazquez: 6/10

Replaced the injured Carvajal. The Galician was often the weak link in Real Madrid’s back four.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7.5/10

Another excellent performance from the German who made a brilliant block to deny Betis in the first half. Rock solid throughout.

David Alaba: 7/10

Barely tested throughout the ninety minutes. The Austrian didn’t do much wrong.

Ferland Mendy: 7/10

A good showing from the Frenchman who despite losing track of Ayoze Perez on one occasion, was usually up to the task defensively.

Fede Valverde: 7/10

Not as influential as he usually is. The Uruguayan was relatively quiet throughout and found it tough to make a mark on the game.

Toni Kroos: 7/10

Kroos’ passing was excellent once again and the German controlled proceedings in the middle of the park. Couldn’t quite produce that moment of magic that Real Madrid needed.

Luka Modric: 7.5/10

First start for the Croatian since his injury two weeks ago. Modric looked the most likely to unlock Betis’ defence but ran out of steam as the game went on.

Jude Bellingham: 8/10

Scored the opener after a brilliant one-two with Brahim. The Englishman has now scored 12 goals in LaLiga this season and continues to be the difference maker for Real Madrid.

Rodrygo Goes: 7/10

A good performance from the Brazilian who had everything except the final touch.

Brahim Diaz: 7.5/10

Scored early on only for it to be disallowed for offside.  Brahim assisted Bellingham’s opener with a great pass after some wonderful interplay between the two players. The Spaniard’s impact on the game wore off as time ticked on.

Substitutions:

Dani Ceballos: 6/10 Came on to replace Luka Modric. The Spaniard was greeted with jeers on his return to the Benito Villamarin.

Joselu: N/A Came on to replace Brahim Diaz with 10 minutes to go.

Nacho Fernandez: N/A Came on to replace Lucas Vazquez late on.

Nico Paz: N/A Came on to replace Toni Kroos late on.
