Real Madrid cruised through to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey with a comfortable 3-1 win away to fourth-tier side Arandina on Saturday night.

Goals from Joselu, Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo ensured Los Blancos’ title defence started off on the right track. Real Madrid will now find out their opponents for the round of 16 on Monday at 12:30 CET.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 6/10

Started ahead of Andriy Lunin. The Spaniard had very little to do as Arandina failed to cause any sort of real danger. Could do nothing to prevent Nacho’s late own goal.

Vinicius Tobias: 7/10

Vinicius Tobias finally made his first team debut. The Brazilian kept things tidy and held his own at right-back.

Alvaro Carrillo: 7/10

Another player making his first team debut. Alvaro put in a very good performance on his Real Madrid debut. The Spaniard didn’t put a foot wrong throughout.

Nacho Fernandez: 6/10

Was solid for most of the game but didn’t cover himself in glory with an own goal in added time.

Fran Garcia: 6.5/10

Another start for the young Spaniard who’s getting a lot more gametime due to Mendy’s absence. Fran didn’t have a to do defensively and provided some good width in attack.

Nico Paz: 6/10

A mixed display from the Argentinian.  Nico didn’t see much of the ball and often made the wrong decision when he did have it.

Eduardo Camavinga: 7.5/10

Back in the starting line-up after a few months out with a knee injury. The Frenchman dominated proceedings and displayed his sensational skill on the ball when under pressure. Having him back is a huge boost for the team.

Dani Ceballos: 7/10

Solid performance from the Spaniard. Ceballos did start the game slowly but improved as time ticked on.

Arda Güler: 7/10

Finally made his long-awaited debut. The Türkiye international showed some glimpses of real brilliance and came close to scoring with a brilliant freekick that ended up hitting the woodwork.

Joselu: 7/10

Opened the scoring for Real Madrid from the penalty spot. Penalty aside, the Spaniard saw very little of the ball and missed a very good chance late on.

Brahim Diaz: 8/10

Doubled Real Madrid’s lead with a well taken goal. The Spaniard also went on to assist Rodrygo for the third goal. Another very good performance from Brahim who’s been in excellent form over the past few weeks.

Substitutions:

Fede Valverde: 6.5/10 Came on to replace Arda Güler. The Uruguayan put in a shift in the middle of the park.

Rodrygo Goes: 7/10 Came on to replace Eduardo Camavinga. The Brazilian was bright since his introduction and scored the third late on.

Mario Martin: 6/10 Came on to replace Nico Paz. Solid debut from the Spaniard.

Alvaro Rodriguez: N/A Came on to replace Vinicius Tobias late on.
