Vinicius on Benzema incident: “There are codes that you do not know.”

Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior were involved in an incident that ended up being headline news for a number of days. Karim Benzema was caught on camera criticising Vinicius at half-time during the Champions League match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. When asked about the incident, this is what the Brazilian had to say:

“That was noise. That noise is not for me. Among football professionals we know very well what that is. There are codes that you don’t know. Karim and I are not only teammates of the same team, which is already a lot. We are professionals and we know the pitch in which we move. My relationship with Karim is excellent.”

Vinicius then went on to talk about his ability to get fans off their seats: “Dribbling is in my blood; it’s been my style since I was a child. I’ve always liked football at speed and one-on-ones to look for situations to pass to my teammates. When I arrived at Madrid, I knew that I was going to have to add other things to my innate style of football.”

When asked about his performances, Vinicius wanted to let everyone know that we’ve yet to see him at his highest level: “Let no one think that everything that can be seen of me has already been seen. I feel it day by day, I feel that I am learning something else and that my head is moving towards what European football demands. I know that inside me there is a player who is being made.”

Finally, Vinicius spoke about his dreams and what he wants to achieve at the biggest club in the world: “At Real Madrid there are no dreams, there are goals. Our goals are all of them. I want to achieve all the big trophies.”
