Player Ratings: Valencia 1-0 Real Madrid – 2022/23

Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 defeat to Valencia at the Mestalla on Sunday as their away form continues to disappoint.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men have now lost three consecutive LaLiga games away from home and have slipped back to third in the league standings.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 8/10

Another appearance, another brilliant performance. Courtois made a number of sensational stops that kept Real Madrid from a big defeat.

Lucas Vazquez: 5/10

Tried to get forward and create chances in attack but things didn’t quite work the way he wanted.

Eder Militão: 6/10

A decent performance from the Brazilian who wasn’t tested all that much.

Antonio Rüdiger: 6/10

Just like Militão, Rüdiger wasn’t caused too many issues by Valencia’s attackers.

Ferland Mendy: 4/10

At fault for Valencia’s goal. The Frenchman allowed Diego Lopez to ghost in behind him and tap the ball into an empty net. Simply not good enough.

Dani Ceballos: 5/10

Ceballos’ form has dipped recently and his performance today was another example of that. The Spaniard had very little impact on the game.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 7/10

Real Madrid’s best midfielder in what was another mediocre team performance. The Frenchman kept things ticking in the middle of the park and continued his run of good form as of late.

Eduardo Camavinga: 5/10

Started the game in midfield. The Frenchman didn’t look comfortable and was replaced at the break.

Marco Asensio: 5/10

Offered very little going forward and didn’t have much impact at all. Disappointing.

Karim Benzema: 4/10

Continued his terrible form with another very poor game. Something isn’t right with Karim.

Vinicius Jr: 5/10

Suffered racist abuse all game before being sent off. LaLiga has truly lost the plot.

Substitutions:

Rodrygo Goes: 5/10 Came on to replace Camavinga for the second half. The Brazilian

Toni Kroos: 6/10 Came on to replace Dani Ceballos. Denied an equaliser by a brilliant save from Mamardashvili.

Luka Modric: 5/10 Came on to replace Asensio.

Fede Valverde: 5/10 Came on to replace Tchouaméni. Missed a clear-cut opportunity to equalise.

Dani Carvajal: 5/10 Came on to replace Mendy late on.
