Player Ratings: Sevilla 0-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid earned a hard fought three points away to Sevilla bringing an end to a three match winless streak in LaLiga. Los Blancos dominated the first-half but failed to take their chances with Vinicius missing a couple of big chances early on. Despite the missed opportunities, it was Vinicius who forced the error from Sevilla goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, that led to the winning goal for Real Madrid.

Despite the performance not being the best, the win will be a big confidence booster for Real Madrid heading into Wednesday’s do or die match against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League. These are our player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Made a couple of important saves and will be happy with the cleansheet.

Lucas Vazquez: 7/10

Solid performance from Lucas. Sevilla struggled to create any opportunities from his flank.

Raphael Varane: 7/10

A quite evening for the Frenchman. Didn’t have much to do but did his job well when required.

Nacho: 7/10

Solid at the back and made a couple of excellent tackles in the second-half to stop Sevilla from troubling Courtois.

Ferland Mendy: 7/10

Started off slowly but grew into the game as time went on. Supplied the cross that led to the winning goal.

Toni Kroos: 7/10

Looked much more comfortable with Casemiro back in the lineup. Solid performance from Toni.

Casemiro: 7/10

His presence in midfield was a great boost to Modric and Kroos who were allowed to roam a lot more freely. Provided the solidity that Real Madrid lacked in their past few games.

Luka Modric: 8/10

Real Madrid’s best player, yet again. The 35 year old is in incredible form and he showed it yet again today. The Croatian was the architect in midfield for Real Madrid and constantly looked to play the ball into advanced areas. MOTM.

Rodrygo: 6/10

Started the game excellently but vanished in the second-half. Was replaced by Asensio on the hour mark.

Karim Benzema: 6/10

Not the best of performances from Benzema. The Frenchman wasn’t able to get into any good positions or create any chances. Still looks rusty after his recent injury.

Vinicius Jr: 7/10

Back in the starting XI and back to being Real Madrid’s brightest player in attack. Missed a couple of big chances in the first-half but it was him who forced the own goal from the Sevilla keeper. A lively performance from the Brazilian.

Substitutions:

Asensio: 6/10 Came on and helped Real Madrid defend their slender lead.
