Player Ratings: Real Sociedad 2-0 Real Madrid – 2022/23
Real Madrid’s disastrous form in LaLiga continued on Tuesday as Ancelotti’s men suffered a 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad.
Los Blancos were poor throughout and now sit 14 points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona with only five games to go. The Blaugrana now only need two points to mathematically secure the league title.
Should Atlético Madrid defeat Cadiz on Wednesday, they will leapfrog Los Blancos into second place.
Thibaut Courtois: 7.5/10
Kept Real Madrid in the game with a number of big saves. Not much he could do to stop Kubo’s goal thanks to Militao’s disastrous back pass.
Dani Carvajal: 2/10
Offered very little to nothing moving forward before picking up a second yellow around the hour mark. Poor.
Eder Militao: 2/10
Another very poor performance from Militao who’s completely disconnected over the past three games. At fault for Sociedad’s winner thanks to a horrendous back pass.
Antonio Rüdiger: 4/10
The best of a bad bunch at the back. Rüdiger couldn’t do much to stop Sociedad’s constant attacks.
Started the game at left-back. Nacho struggled against Kubo at times and doesn’t look comfortable on the flanks.
Dani Ceballos: 4/10
One of Ceballos’ worst performances this season. The Spaniard had no impact on the game whatsoever.
Aurélien Tchouaméni: 5/10
Offered no protection to his backline and didn’t do enough to control proceedings.
Toni Kroos: 5/10
Toni Kroos made a number of decent passes but couldn’t really affect the game. Brought off on the hour mark as Ancelotti looked towards Saturday’s Copa del Rey final.
Marco Asensio: 4/10
Offered very little going forward and lacked the creativity that he’s shown in recent weeks. Disappointing.
Mariano Diaz: 2/10
Given a start in Benzema and Vinicius’ absence. The striker offered nothing and was hauled off on the hour mark.
Rodrygo Goes: 4/10
Tried to get things moving but saw very little of the ball and in the end it was too much of an ask for him to do everything on his own.
Alvaro Rodriguez: 5/10 – Came on to replace Mariano Diaz.
Lucas Vazquez: 5/10 – Came on to replace Toni Kroos.
Sergio Arribas: N/A – Came on to replace Asensio late on.
