Player Ratings: Real Madrid 6-1 Mallorca – 2021/22

A hat-trick from Marco Asensio, two goals from Karim Benzema and a late goal from Isco see Real Madrid cruise to a 6-1 win against Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu.

With plenty of rumours in the media over Asensio’s unhappiness with his playing time, the Spaniard proved a point with a brilliant hat-trick in his first start for the club this season. Karim Benzema bagged a brace, continuing his sensational start to the season with the second goal being his 200th in LaLiga for Real Madrid. Isco added a sixth goal for Real Madrid taking Los Blancos’ goal tally for the season to 21 goals – more than twice as many as any other side in the division. The win sees Real Madrid leapfrog rivals Atletico Madrid into top spot. Our player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

A relatively quiet night for the Belgian. Courtois could do nothing to stop Kang In Lee’s goal.

Nacho: 7/10

Following Carvajal’s injury, Nacho started tonight’s match at right-back. The Spaniard put in a decent shift and made some good defensive blocks.

Eder Militao: 7.5/10

A decent performance from the Brazilian. Eder looked a little sloppy during the opening exchanges but settled down as time went on.

David Alaba: 8/10

Alaba’s first start at the Bernabéu. The Austrian put in a solid performance and assisted Benzema for Real Madrid’s fifth goal of the night.

Miguel Gutiérrez: 8/10

Started tonight’s game after being benched for the last two matches. The young Spaniard showed yet again that he has what it takes to be Real Madrid’s first choice left-back. A great performance both in defence and attack.

Fede Valverde: 8/10

Another brilliant performance from the Uruguayan in the middle of the park. Fede has started every game for Real Madrid this season and it’s clear to see why Ancelotti trusts him so much.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8/10

Camavinga’s first start since joining Real Madrid. The young Frenchman showed exactly why a plethora of Europe’s big clubs were after him, putting in a fantastic shift in midfield. Got a standing ovation as he was replaced on the hour mark.

Marco Asensio: 10/10

With rumours circulating this week that Asensio was unhappy with his playing time so far this season, the Spaniard was given his first start tonight. Asensio was sure to make it count, scoring a hat-trick against his former team and reminding everyone of the talent that he possesses. Sensational performance.

Rodrygo Goes: 8/10

Started tonight’s game on the right-wing. The Brazilian showed Ancelotti why he should be the first choice right winger. Rodrygo caused Mallorca all sorts of problems with his speed and power on the ball and was unfortunate not to have an assist to his name after a Benzema goal was chalked off by VAR.

Karim Benzema: 10/10

It’s difficult to find words to explain Benzema’s form at the moment. The Frenchman racked up another two goals and two assists tonight taking his tally for the LaLiga season to eight goals and seven assists in just six matches. Outrageous numbers.

Vinicius Jr: 8/10

Continued his brilliant start to the season with another great performance. The Brazilian is full of confidence at the moment and that’s evident from the way he’s playing. Assisted Isco for Real Madrid’s sixth goal of the night.

Substitutions:

Antonio Blanco: 7/10 Came on to replace Camavinga on the hour mark for his first minutes under Ancelotti. The Spaniard looked sharp and slotted in perfectly in the middle of the park.

Isco: 7/10 Replaced Marco Asensio with 18 minutes to go. The Spaniard scored Real Madrid’s sixth goal and showed some silky touches on the ball.

Lucas Vazquez: 6/10 Came on to replace Rodrygo. The Galician wasn’t very involved during his short time on the pitch.

Luka Jovic: N/A – Replaced Benzema with 10 minutes to go. The Serbian looked sharp and had a few decent opportunities to add to Real Madrid’s goal tally.

Sergio Santos: N/A – Replaced Nacho with 10 minutes to go. The young Spaniard came on for his debut.
