Player Ratings: Real Madrid 6-0 Valladolid – 2022/23

A seven minute hat-trick from Karim Benzema led Real Madrid to a 6-0 win against Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Rodrygo opened the scoring midway through the first half before Karim Benzema killed the game off with a hat-trick in the space of seven minutes.

Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez added their names to the scoresheet in the second half, rounding off a brilliant performance from Los Blancos.

This confidence-boosting win comes at a crucial time in the season, with Real Madrid facing Barcelona in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal on Wednesday with a 1-0 deficit to overturn.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Made some good saves in the early moments of the game but was a spectator ever since. A very quiet afternoon for the Belgian.

Lucas Vazquez: 8/10

Started at right-back ahead of Carvajal. The Galician put in an excellent shift down the right flank and capped off his performance with a goal. Deserves a start against Barcelona in midweek.

Eder Militao: 8/10

Made a brilliant block to deny Valladolid early on in the second half and continued his brilliant form. Didn’t put a foot wrong.

David Alaba: 7.5/10

Alaba’s first appearance for Real Madrid since his injury against Liverpool. The Austrian was solid at the back and will be crucial for the team in the final stages of the season.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8.5/10

With both Rüdiger and Nacho unavailable, Camavinga started at left-back once again. The Frenchman was brilliant and continues to go from strength to strength. Unbelievable talent.

Toni Kroos: 8/10

Flawless performance from the German maestro who looks to have benefited from the international break. Kroos controlled the tempo of the game and was the orchestrator in the middle of the park.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 7.5/10

Solid shift from the Frenchman who’s struggled for game time over the past few weeks. Tchouaméni showed that he’s ready to step up when called upon and will undoubtedly be key for Ancelotti in the final stretch of the season.

Marco Asensio: 8/10

Marco Asensio was one of the few bright spots for Real Madrid against Barcelona before the international break and he carried over that performance into today’s game. The Spaniard scored and notched an assist in what was a very good showing.

Rodrygo Goes: 9/10

Rodrygo was unstoppable against Valladolid, scoring a goal and registering two assists. The Brazilian played in a number ’10’ role and dazzled with his directness, dribbling and speed. Fantastic performance.

Karim Benzema: 10/10

Back to his sensational best. The Frenchman scored a sublime 7 minute hat-trick, reminding everyone why he is the current Ballon d’Or winner. It’s no coincidence that Karim put in this kind of performance after two weeks of rest over the international break. If only Real Madrid had a back-up striker to help out the Frenchman…

Vinícius Jr: 9/10

Despite not scoring, Vinícius was absolutely sensational against Valladolid. The Brazilian gave former Real Madrid player Fresneda all sorts of problems down the left flank and registered two assists.

Substitutions:

Eden Hazard: 7/10 Came on to replace Benzema for his first LaLiga appearance since September 2022. The Belgian looked sharp since coming on and assisted Vazquez for Real Madrid’s 6th goal.

Dani Ceballos: 6/10 Came on to replace Vinícius Júnior.

Jesus Vallejo: 6/10 Came on to replace David Alaba.

Alvaro Odriozola: N/A Came on to replace Rodrygo.
