Player Ratings: Real Madrid 6-0 Levante – 2021/22

Real Madrid cruised to a 6-0 win against Levante at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday, with the result condemning the visitors to relegation.

Despite having already won the league, Carlo Ancelotti put out a strong XI against the bottom side in LaLiga. Real Madrid were four goals ahead at half-time thanks to goals from Ferland Mendy, Karim Benzema, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior. It could’ve easily been 6-0 or 7-0 had Fede not struck the post and woodwork a number of times.

The second-half wasn’t much different from the first. Real Madrid showed no mercy to Levante and added another two goals to the scoresheet. Vinicius scored both goals for Real Madrid, completing his first career hat-trick.

A big confidence booster for Real Madrid ahead of their Champions League final clash against Liverpool, but a sad day for Levante who have been relegated from LaLiga Santander.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Pretty much a spectator tonight.

Lucas Vazquez: 7/10

Vazquez had barely any defending to do and thus enjoyed the freedom to play further up the pitch.

Jesus Vallejo: 7/10

Second consecutive start for Vallejo. The Spaniard was barely tested tonight.

Nacho: 7/10

A routine outing for the veteran defender. Nacho put in a solid shift but didn’t have much to do throughout the game.

Ferland Mendy: 8/10

Scored the opener for Real Madrid with a well taken finish. The Frenchman was excellent in attack, constantly getting involved and could’ve easily had another goal to his name.

Luka Modric: 10/10

Simply sensational. Luka Modric provided a hat-trick of assists in the first-half, proving once again that age is just a number. A pleasure to watch.

Eduardo Camavinga: 9/10

With Levante barely attacking throughout the game, Camavinga was given the freedom to attack and demonstrate his creativity on the ball. The Frenchman put in a magnificent performance, showing once again that there is life for Real Madrid after Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Fede Valverde: 9.5/10

Just like Modric and Camavinga, Fede put in a world class performance in the middle of the park. The Uruguayan was extremely unlucky to not have scored a goal, having hit the post and crossbar three times.

Rodrygo Goes: 8.5/10

Continued his fine goalscoring form with another goal tonight. The Brazilian was a constant headache for the Levante defence and will be disappointed not to have scored more than one goal given the chances that came his way.

Karim Benzema: 9/10

Another display of pure class from Karim. The Frenchman scored a goal which made him the second highest goalscorer in Real Madrid history before then selflessly assisting Vinicius for Real Madrid fifth goal. Magnifique.

Vinicius Jr: 10/10

What a performance from the Brazilian. The winger scored his first career hat-trick and also provided an assist. What a season from Vini. World class.

Substitutions:

Mariano: 5/10 Came on to replace Rodrygo. The striker came close to scoring on a number of occasions but was denied by some good saves from Levante’s keeper.

Luka Jovic: 7/10 Came on to replace Benzema. The Serbian assisted Vinicius for the Brazilians hat-trick.

Toni Kroos: 6/10 Came on to replace Valverde. The German ended the game as Real Madrid’s captain.

Peter Gonzalez: 6/10 Came on to replace Luka Modric. The youngster showed decent promise during his short stint on the pitch.

Mario Gila: N/A Came on to replace Nacho late on.
