Player Ratings: Real Madrid 4-2 Napoli – 2023/24

Real Madrid secured top spot in their group with a 4-2 win over Napoli at the Bernabéu on Wednesday thanks to goals from Rodrygo, Bellingham, Nico Paz and Joselu.

Carlo Ancelotti can now rotate his team during the last game of the group stage against Union Berlin.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Andriy Lunin: 7/10

A good overall performance from the Ukrainian who was unfortunate not to keep out Simeone’s opener. He should’ve arguably done better to deny Anguissa at the start of the second half.

Dani Carvajal: 7/10

Another solid performance from tonight’s captain who had Kvaratskhelia under control. The Spaniard was also a threat in attack.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7/10

A commanding defensive display from Rüdiger who displayed his physicality against Napoli’s forwards. The German was lucky to have stayed on the pitch after a heavy challenge on Zielinski.

David Alaba: 7/10

Assisted Bellingham with a sensational cross but wasn’t always switched on defensively.

Ferland Mendy: 6/10

A rather lax performance from the Frenchman who wasn’t very reliable in defence. Both of Napoli’s goals came down his flank.

Fede Valverde: 7/10

A relatively quiet game from the Uruguayan who wasn’t as influential as he usually is but he was calm and composed on the ball and full of energy.

Toni Kroos: 7/10

Toni Kroos was excellent on the ball as ever but was exposed defensively on a number of occasions.

Dani Ceballos: 5/10

Back in the starting lineup after Modric’s injury. The Spaniard was sloppy and is clearly lacking in match fitness which is to be expected after a long injury.

Jude Bellingham: 9/10

Yet another exceptional performance from the Englishman. Bellingham scored Madrid’s second goal before assisting Joselu for the fourth goal and bossed the game from start to finish.

Brahim Diaz: 7/10

Instrumental in the build up to the Madrid’s equaliser. Brahim was bright on the ball and a willing runner throughout. Came off with what looked like a calf injury.

Rodrygo Goes: 8/10

Scored a wonderful equaliser and was a constant threat on the counter. The Brazilian was extremely sharp and is in splendid form at the moment, scoring six goals and registering four assists in his last four games.

Joselu: 6/10 Came on to replace Ceballos. The Spaniard missed a plethora of chances before eventually scoring in stoppage time.

Nicolas Paz: 6/10 Came on to replace Brahim. The 19-year old scored the winner with long range strike. What a night for him.

Nacho: N/A Came on to replace Ferland Mendy late on.

Lucas Vazquez: N/A Came on to replace Rodrygo late on.
