Player Ratings: Real Madrid 4-1 Huesca
Real Madrid moved to the top of LaLiga with a 4-1 win against Huesca on Saturday. Eden Hazard opened the scoring for the Merengues finding the net with a wonderful long-range strike. Karim Benzema then doubled Real Madrid’s lead just before half-time.
Federico Valverde all-but sealed the three points for Los Blancos with a neat finish early in the second half. David Ferreiro managed to pull goal back for the visitors but it was a mere consolation. Karim Benzema then went on to score his second of the day in stoppage time. These are our player ratings:
Starting XI:
Thibaut Courtois: 6/10
Could do nothing to stop the goal. Didn’t have much to do as Huesca barely tested him. A comfortable evening for the Belgian.
Lucas Vazquez: 7/10
Vazquez looks surprisingly comfortable playing at right-back and seems to enjoy playing there. Assisted Benzema for the second goal of the game. Another great performance from Lucas.
Eder Militao: 7/10
Decent performance from Eder. The Brazilian was tasked with marking Rafa Mir and did his job well.
Sergio Ramos: 7/10
As reliable as ever. The captain brings consistency to the backline. Unlucky not to score in the first-half.
Marcelo: 8/10
The Brazilian made a couple of defensive mistakes but put in a decent performance. Always willing to contribute in attack and a threat with his crosses from the left.
Fede Valverde: 8/10
The Uruguayan always gives 110% every match, and today it was no different. He assisted Hazard for the opener and then went on to score himself early in the second-half. A machine.
Casemiro: 6/10
The Brazilian did a great job in midfield constantly keeping the pressure high. One of Casemiro’s better performances this season.
Luka Modric: 7/10
The Croatian took some time to get going but soon started to put his mark on the game. A decent performance from Luka.
Marco Asensio: 6/10
Didn’t do much going forward and was anonymous throughout. A disappointing performance.
Karim Benzema: 9/10
Karim’s best performance so far this season. Was a constant danger throughout the game. The type of showing we all except from the Frenchman. Man of the match.
Eden Hazard: 7/10
Opened the scoring with an absolute rocket of a strike. That moment of brilliance is something that is sometimes needed to unlock tight defenses. The Belgian looked comfortable on the ball and a threat going forward. Great performance on his first start since returning from injury.
Substitutions:
Ferland Mendy: 6/10 – Solid defensively despite playing out of position on the right side.
Vinicius Jr: 7/10 – Came on and made a great move after just two minutes on the pitch. Was a threat with his speed and directness.
Rodrygo: 7/10 – Assisted Benzema for the fourth goal and looked hungry to score.
Isco: 5/10 – Didn’t really affect the game.
Toni Kroos: 6/10 – Came on with the three points already in the bag. Took control of the midfield and allowed Casemiro to have some rest ahead of the big game against Inter on Tuesday.
