Player Ratings: Real Madrid 4-0 Girona – 2023/24

Real Madrid extended their lead to five points atop the LaLiga standings after a resounding 4-0 triumph over Girona on Saturday.

In what was hyped as a pivotal match for the title race, Madrid left no room for doubt regarding their status as LaLiga’s dominant force, delivering a commanding performance that resulted in a thoroughly convincing victory.

Vinicius Junior initiated the scoring in the early stages with a stunning strike, followed by Jude Bellingham finding the net twice, once in each half, while Rodrygo sealed the victory with a splendid solo effort.

Starting XI:

Andriy Lunin: 7/10

Lunin looks to have made the number one spot his own. The Ukrainian started once again and had a quiet game with Girona not registering a single shot on target.

Lucas Vazquez: 7/10

Vazquez has impressed in the past few games and was up to the task once again tonight. The Galician was excellent defensively and contributed well in attack.

Dani Carvajal: 7.5/10

Started at centre-back after Rüdiger and Nacho’s injuries. The Spaniard put in an impressive performance despite being played out of position. Excellent.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 7.5/10

Tchouaméni started another game at centre-back and you couldn’t tell he was playing out of position. The Frenchman made some great interceptions and his passing out of the back was top notch.

Ferland Mendy: 7/10

Another solid performance from Mendy who didn’t put a foot wrong throughout.

Fede Valverde: 7.5/10

Valverde hasn’t missed a game for Madrid this season and he demonstrated his importance against Girona with another excellent shift in midfield. The Uruguayan was full of legs and kept things ticking for Los Blancos.

Eduardo Camavinga: 7.5/10

Camavinga played a crucial part in Real Madrid’s dominance in midfield. The Frenchman covered a lot of ground and was a difference maker in both attack and defence.

Toni Kroos: 8/10

Another sensational performance from the German who pulled the strings from the middle of the park. Kroos provided his team’s makeshift backline with the protection they needed.

Jude Bellingham: 9/10

Jude Bellingham was back on the scoresheet once again, scoring his 19th and 20th goals of the season. The Englishman had to be brought off after suffering a knock to his ankle.

Rodrygo Goes: 7/10

Rodrygo has been going through a rough patch of form recently and that continued throughout the first half. The Brazilian did however look a lot sharper after the break and scored a brilliant solo goal to round off the scoring.

Vinicius Junior: 10/10

What a performance from the Brazilian. Vinicius played like a man possessed and was involved in all four goals. His opening goal and assist to Bellingham were extraordinary.


Brahim Diaz: 6/10 – Came on to replace Bellingham. The Spaniard missed a great chance to make it 5-0.

Joselu: 6/10 – Came on to replace Rodrygo. The Spaniard missed a penalty late on.

Luka Modric: 6/10 – Came on to replace Toni Kroos.

Arda Güler: 7/10 – Came on to replace Vinicius. The youngster won a penalty late on after some brilliant footwork.

Fran Garcia: 6/10 – Came on to replace Ferland Mendy.
