Player Ratings: Real Madrid 4-0 Espanyol – 2021/22
Real Madrid are officially the champions of Spain once more thanks to a 4-0 victory over Espanyol on Saturday.
Los Blancos mathematically confirmed their status as champions, wrestling the title back from their cross-city rivals, Atletico Madrid.
Thibaut Courtois: 8/10
Made a number of great saves, earning himself a deserved clean sheet.
Lucas Vazquez: 6.5/10
An average performance from the Galician who wasn’t tested in defence and was okay in attack.
Jesus Vallejo: 7/10
A rare start for the Spaniard. Vallejo put in a solid shift, making the most out of the opportunity.
Back from injury, partnering Vallejo at the back. The Brazilian was excellent despite playing out of position and Ancelotti will undoubtedly be delighted to have him back ahead of the second leg against Manchester City.
Marcelo struggled during the opening exchanges but grew into the game as time went on. The captain assisted Rodrygo for Madrid’s second goal of the game.
Luka Modric: 8/10
Another great performance from the magician. Modric was always looking to create chances and was unlucky not to have a number of assists to his name.
Eduardo Camavinga: 8/10
Dani Ceballos: 9.5/10
A near flawless performance from the Spaniard. Ceballos has had very little game time this season but based on his performance today, the midfielder could very well have a much bigger role in the team next season. Brilliant.
Marco Asensio: 7.5/10
Always looked to create chances and was effective with ball before he deservedly ended up on the scoresheet.
Mariano Diaz: 6.5/10
Missed a number of excellent opportunities in the first-half but showed decent work rate off the ball.
Rodrygo Goes: 9/10
Scored the opening two goals for Real Madrid in what was a display of excellent finishing from the young Brazilian. A man on form.
Toni Kroos: 6/10 – Came on to replace Modric around the hour mark. The German looked tired and at times a little sloppy.
Karim Benzema: 8/10 – Came on to replace Mariano. The Frenchman scored Real Madrid’s fourth goal to take his LaLiga tally to 25 goals for the season. Goalscoring machine.
Isco: 7.5/10 – Came on to replace Casemiro. The Spaniard was brilliant on the ball and scored a peach of a goal only for it to be disallowed by VAR. Great cameo.
Mario Gila: N/A – Came on to replace Camavinga with little under 15 minutes remaining.
Vinicius: 7/10 – Came on to replace Rodrygo late on. The Brazilian assisted Benzema for Real Madrid’s fourth goal.
