Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Andriy Lunin: 7/10

A very quiet night for the Ukrainian who only faced one shot on target.

Lucas Vazquez: 9/10

An excellent performance from the Galician who offered Real Madrid width down the right and created a number of really good chances. Brilliant.

Antonio Rüdiger: 8/10

Was involved in both of Real Madrid’s goals. The German was a major threat from set pieces and was unlucky to have his goal go down as an own goal.

Nacho Fernandez: 7/10

A much better performance from Nacho who’s struggled for form this season. The Spaniard was excellent on the ball and made a number of solid blocks.

Ferland Mendy: 6/10

Didn’t offer much in attack but was solid in defence which allowed Vinicius to attack without worrying about the defensive side of the game.

Fede Valverde: 7.5/10

Fede Valverde had a lot of freedom down the right side of midfield and covered so much ground defensively.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8.5/10

A brilliant performance from Camavinga who dominated proceedings in the middle of the park. The Frenchman won possession 13 times, won 10 duels and completed over 95% of his passes. Came close to scoring in the first half.

Luka Modric: 9/10

Started for the first time in over two months. The Croatian put on a show at the Bernabéu, creating eight chances and completing 95% of his passed. Modric’s corners were sensational and led to two of Real Madrid’s goals against Celta.

Brahim Diaz: 6.5/10

Brahim wasn’t at his best in attack but his close control in tight spaces helped on the counter.

Rodrygo Goes: 5/10

Rodrygo’s movement in attack was very good but his finishing was poor once again. The Brazilian is clearly lacking in confidence.

Vinicius Junior: 7.5/10

Opened the scoring after getting on the end of a rebound from a Rüdiger header. Forced the own goal as a result of his cross on Madrid’s third goal.

Joselu: 6/10 – Came on to replace Rodrygo. The Spaniard missed some good goalscoring opportunities.
