Player Ratings: Real Madrid 3-1 Barcelona – 2022/23

Real Madrid moved three points clear at the top of LaLiga with a well earned 3-1 win over arch rivals Barcelona in Sunday’s Clasico at the Bernabéu.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring for the hosts before Fede Valverde doubled Los Blancos’ lead before half-time.
The visitors got back into the game thanks to a late goal from Ferran Torres to halve the deficit.
Barcelona looked a lot stronger in the second-half, and were pushing for an equaliser before a late Rodrygo penalty secured the three points and ensured that Madrid’s unbeaten start to the season remained intact.
Los Blancos were clinical, absorbed pressure and sealed the win. The result puts Madrid clear at the top of the league with 25 points from nine games, ending Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the season in the process.
Player ratings:
Starting XI:
Andriy Lunin: 7/10
A decent performance from Lunin who wasn’t tested as much as expected. Not much he could do to stop Ferran’s goal.
Dani Carvajal: 7/10
Put in a solid performance and Barcelona had little joy down his flank up until the introduction of Fati. The right-back was nowhere to be found for Barca’s goal.
Eder Militao: 8.5/10
Excellent performance from Militao who handled Lewandowski extremely well. The Brazilian made life for Barca’s forward extremely difficult, nullifying his impact on the game.
David Alaba: 7.5/10
A routine performance from the Austrian who was excellent on the ball and did everything he needed to with relative ease.
Ferland Mendy: 7.5/10
Fede Valverde: 9/10
Karim Benzema: 8/10
Vinicius Jr: 7/10
Substitutions:
Eduardo Camavinga: N/A – Came on to replace Modric as Ancelotti looked to add fresh legs late on.
Rodrygo Goes: 7.5/10 – Came on to replace Vinicius. The Brazilian had an instant impact, winning and then converting the penalty that put the game to bed.
Marco Asensio: N/A – Came on to replace Benzema late on.
Antonio Rüdiger: N/A – Came on to replace Dani Carvajal late on.
