Player Ratings: Real Madrid 2-1 Getafe – 2023/24

Jude Bellingham marked Real Madrid’s first game of the season at the Bernabéu with a 95th-minute winner, earning the team a 2-1 win against Getafe on Saturday afternoon.

Former Madrid striker Borja Mayoral gave the visitors an early lead after some poor play from Fran Garcia and Madrid’s backline.

The hosts trailed the game at the break before throwing everything forward in the second-half in pursuit of a comeback.

Joselu equalised after a chaotic sequence in the box before Bellingham eventually scored the winner, capitalising on a mistake from Soria right at the death.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 6/10

Started his second consecutive game. The Spaniard didn’t cover himself in glory for Mayoral’s goal and had a rather quiet afternoon.

Dani Carvajal: 7/10

Carvajal started the game very poorly but improved drastically after the break. The Spaniard helped the team a lot in attack and was unlucky not to score after he hit the woodwork. Carvajal looks reborn this season.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7/10

Misread Fran Garcia’s poor back pass which cost the team. That moment aside, Rüdiger was faultless throughout.

David Alaba: 7/10

Started the game at centre-back where he put in a decent shift before he was moved over to left-back for the second-half.

Fran Garcia: 5/10

At fault for Getafe’s opener after a poor back pass that Mayoral took full advantage off. Subbed off at the break after a rather poor first-half performance.

Luka Modric: 7.5/10

His first start for Real Madrid this season. The Croatian was very influential in the first-half  and it was his angled cross that led to Madrid’s equaliser. Lost a bit of steam after 70 minutes.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 7/10

Solid as usually always is the case. Aurélien was tidy on the ball without being spectacular. Reliable.

Eduardo Camavinga: 7/10

A pretty solid performance from the Frenchman who was arguably Madrid’s best player in the first-half. Camavinga was brought off at the break, unclear yet whether he picked up an injury or if it was a technical decision.

Jude Bellingham: 8/10

A relatively quiet game from the Englishman up until his winner in the 95th minute. Jude was greeted with every touch of the ball and he responded with yet another goal. The Bernabéu has a new star.

Rodrygo Goes: 6/10

Rodrygo can’t be faulted for his effort but the execution just wasn’t there today. The Brazilian’s shooting and linkup with Joselu was poor throughout the game.

Joselu: 7/10

Equalised for Real Madrid with his first goal of the season. The Spaniard wasn’t at the races in the first-half but improved significantly after the break.

Substitutions:

Nacho Fernandez: 6/10 – Came on to replace Fran Garcia at the break. The Spaniard took Alaba’s spot at centre-back with the Austrian moving to the left-back position.

Toni Kroos: 8.5/10 Came on to replace Camavinga. The German turned the game on its head with a masterful performance. Unlucky not to have scored after hitting the post.

Lucas Vazquez: N/A Came on to replace Carvajal late on. The Spaniard’s shot resulted in Bellingham’s winner.

Brahim Diaz: N/A Came on to replace Modric late on.

Fede Valverde: N/A Came on to replace Tchouaméni late on.
