Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 6/10

Barely had a save to make throughout the ninety minutes. Back-to-back clean sheets for the Belgian.

Nacho: 7/10

Provided very little going forward in the first half but improved after the break. The Spaniard was barely ever threatened in defence.

Eder Militao: N/A

Subbed off after 36 minutes with an injury. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7/10

Had a very quiet game in defence with Valencia not creating anything of note. The German scored a header just before half time but it was ruled out for offside. Questionable officiating to chalk off that goal.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8/10

Started the game at left-back before moving back into midfield after Militao’s injury. The Frenchman put in another brilliant shift and is starting to really make his mark on the team.

Luka Modric: 7/10

A typical Modric performance. The Croatian got things moving in the middle of the park and should have had an assist or two to his name after a brilliant through ball to Asensio in the opening 3 minutes and another in the 56th minute where Benzema missed from close range.

Toni Kroos: 7/10

Not one of his best performances but the German did enough to keep things ticking in midfield.

Dani Ceballos: 8/10

Another brilliant performance from the Spaniard who’s in top top form. The Spaniard got an ovation from the Bernabéu faithful as a reward for his showing. Doesn’t look like Real Madrid will let him leave now.

Marco Asensio: 7.5/10

Missed three very easy chances in the first half only to score a goal of the season contender after the break. Such a polarising player.

Karim Benzema: 7/10

Showed incredible technique to find Asensio with a backheel pass in the first half but the Spaniard couldn’t find the right finish. Went on to register assists for both of his team’s goals before coming off with a knock.

Vinicius Jr: 8/10

Scored a brilliant goal on his 200th appearance for Real Madrid. The Brazilian was a constant threat down the left wing and was at the end of a series of awful challenges. The Brazilian was disgustingly kicked by Gabriel Paulista in the 71st minute which resulted in the Valencia man being sent off.

Dani Carvajal: 6.5/10 Came on to replace the injured Militao. The Spaniard put in a solid shift.

Rodrygo Goes: 6/10 Came on to replace the injured Benzema.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 6/10 Came on to replace Toni Kroos. Great to see the Frenchman back in action.

Fede Valverde: 6/10 Came on to replace Luka Modric.
