Player Ratings: Real Madrid 2-0 Getafe – 2021/22

Goals from Casemiro and Lucas Vazquez eased Real Madrid to a comfortable win over Getafe on Saturday night.

Casemiro opened the scoring with a diving header after Vinicius provided a perfect cross to his fellow Brazilian, scoring his first goal of the 2021/22 season.

Lucas Vazquez made sure there was no way back for Getafe, with the Galician powering the ball into the bottom left corner of the net after some nice interplay with Rodrygo.

The win sees the Capital club extend their lead at the top of LaLiga to 12 points as they look to wrap up the title as soon as possible.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Other than a shot from Enes Unal in the final minute of the game, Courtois had nothing to do throughout his time on the pitch.

Lucas Vazquez: 8.5/10

Vazquez was a constant threat down the right flank for the home side. The Galician came close to scoring early on in the first-half before eventually scoring Real Madrid’s second with a well-taken finish in the second-half.

Eder Militao: 7.5/10

Originally a doubt for tonight’s game, Militao managed to be ready in time to play tonight. The Brazilian had barely anything to do in defence and came close to scoring with a header that drifted just wide of the post.

David Alaba: 7.5/10

Just like Militao, Alaba didn’t have much to do during tonight’s game. The Austrian did however show great pace and positioning to deal with a number of swift counterattacks from the visitors.

Marcelo: 7.5/10

Real Madrid’s captain started tonight’s game, marking his first start for the club since February. The Brazilian was a constant threat down the left flank and linked up nicely with Vinicius.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8.5/10

Ancelotti decided to rest Modric and Kroos for tonight’s game which resulted in Camavinga starting. The Frenchman showed great composure and calmness on the ball and read the game really nicely, both in defence and attack. Excellent performance.

Casemiro: 8/10

Casemiro looks to have found form at the most important part of the season. The Brazilian opened the scoring for Real Madrid with a brilliant diving header following a sensational cross from Vinicius. Picked up a yellow card which means he’s suspended for the next game against Sevilla.

Fede Valverde: 7.5/10

Followed up his brilliant performance against Chelsea with another dominant display tonight. The Uruguayan came close to scoring in the first-half and put in an absolute shift in the middle of the park.

Rodrygo Goes: 7/10

Assisted Lucas Vazquez for Real Madrid’s second goal but didn’t do enough to justify Ancelotti starting him ahead of the likes of Bale and Asensio.

Karim Benzema: 7.5/10

Opened the scoring after 3 minutes only for it to be disallowed for offside. The Frenchman played a major part in his teams buildup play but didn’t get any clear cut opportunities to score.

Vinicius Jr: 8.5/10

Came close to scoring in the first-half after a brilliant run and cheeky nutmeg on the touchline. The young Brazilian was a nightmare for Getafe’s defenders to mark and it was his sensational ball from out wide that put the opener on a plate for Casemiro.

Substitutions:

Gareth Bale: 6/10 Came on to replace Karim Benzema and was heavily booed upon his introduction.

Dani Ceballos: 6/10 Came on to replace Casemiro with under 15 minutes remaining.

Marco Asensio: N/A Came on to replace Vinicius late on.

Nacho: N/A Came on to replace Alaba late on.
