Player Ratings: Real Madrid 0-0 Osasuna – 2021/22

Real Madrid returned to the top of LaLiga despite being held to a goalless draw by Osasuna at the Bernabeu.

The home side were in control for a large majority of the game but couldn’t find a way to break down Osasuna’s low defensive block. Osasuna came close to opening the scoring through Moncayola, with the Spaniard hitting the post. Karim Benzema then struck the bar minutes later. Real Madrid had a number of good opportunities in the second-half through Casemiro and Marcelo, but neither could take advantage.

The draw sees Madrid claim top spot in LaLiga, level on points with Sevilla, Real Betis and Real Sociedad. Our player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

A comfortable night in goal for the Belgian. Osasuna spent the majority of the game camped in their own half and never really tested Courtois.

Dani Carvajal: 7/10

Started his first game since returning from injury. The Spaniard put in a decent shift but could’ve done more to help the team in attack.

Eder Militao: 8/10

Excellent performance from the Brazilian. Eder was solid defensively and made a number of impressive runs to help switch things up in attack.

David Alaba: 7/10

The Austrian did a good job defensively and his passing was excellent as always.

Ferland Mendy: 7/10

A solid performance defensively but pretty lackluster going forward. The Frenchman didn’t contribute much in attack and was replaced by Marcelo with 20 minutes to go.

Eduardo Camavinga: 6/10

Started the game after Modric dropped out of the squad due to muscle fatigue. The Frenchman had a number of good opportunities to score but couldn’t find the back of the net. Replaced by Rodrygo for the second-half.

Casemiro: 6.5/10

Not the best of performances from Casemiro. The Brazilian was slow and looked far off his usual high standards.

Toni Kroos: 9/10

Real Madrid’s best player on a rather disappointing night. The German completed 112 out of 118 passes attempted and was unlucky not to have an assist or two to his name.

Marco Asensio: 6/10

Starting at right-wing, Asensio failed to impress. The Spaniard started the game well but faded as the game went on.

Karim Benzema: 7/10

A frustrating night for the Ballon d’Or nominee. The Frenchman wasn’t as his best but despite that he was the player that came closest to scoring, hitting the crossbar around the hour mark.

Vinicius Jr: 7/10

Real Madrid’s most threatening attacker. The Brazilian never stopped trying and was always dangerous in possession but couldn’t find the breakthrough that would’ve given his team the lead.

Substitutions:

Rodrygo Goes: 6/10 Came on to replace Camavinga at half-time. The Brazilian tried to make a difference but things didn’t really work out for him.

Eden Hazard: 5/10 Came on to replace Asensio. The Belgian saw very little of the ball and failed to impact the game.

Marcelo: 6/10 Came on to replace Mendy. Marcelo created a number of good chances and Madrid looked a lot more threatening down the left wing since his introduction.

Lucas Vazquez: 6/10 Came on to replace Carvajal. The Galician was a right-back on paper but a right winger on the pitch as he tried to help Madrid find a breakthrough.
