Player Ratings: Real Madrid 0-0 Cádiz – 2021/22
Real Madrid’s 10-match winning streak ended with a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Cadiz on Sunday.
Real Madrid came into this game with six coronavirus-enforced absences, with Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin, Rodrygo, Luka Modric and Marcelo all missing out after testing positive earlier during the week.
Out of all the absentees, Luka Modric was the biggest miss as the home side struggled to break down Cadiz’s low block. Carlo Ancelotti’s men persisted until the end, but the lack of creativity at times as well as the final product ended up proving costly.
Starting XI:
Thibaut Courtois: 7.5/10
A very quiet night for the Belgian with Cádiz not producing a single shot on target.
Lucas Vazquez: 6.5/10
Eder Militao: 8/10
Another excellent performance from the Brazilian. Militao was flawless in possession and dealt with Cádiz’s counter-attacks with ease.
David Alaba: 8/10
Just like Militao, Alaba had a very comfortable outing. Cádiz didn’t test the Austrian thus allowing him to play a lot higher up the pitch than usually is the case.
Ferland Mendy: 7/10
Toni Kroos did everything he could to help Real Madrid break the deadlock. The German’s long range passing was brilliant and he ended the game with nine key passes. Class performance.
Eden Hazard: 7.5/10
Karim Benzema: 7/10
Vinicius Jr: 7/10
Substitutions:
Luka Jovic: 6/10 – Came on to replace Valverde. The Serbian was involved in a number of good sequences of play and came close with a header that went wide.
Nacho: N/A – Came on to replace Mendy late on.
