Player Ratings: Osasuna 0-2 Real Madrid – 2022/23

Real Madrid grind out a 2-0 victory against Osasuna on Saturday night thanks to second half goals from Fede Valverde and Marco Asensio.

Los Blancos closed the gap to five points at the top of LaLiga three days before they face Liverpool in the Champions League. Barcelona can extend their lead with a win against Cadiz on Sunday.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Back in the starting lineup after recovering from injury. The Belgian made a number of good saves in the first half, earning himself a deserved clean sheet.

Nacho: 6.5/10

Started tonight’s game at right-back as Ancelotti looked to give Carvajal some rest ahead of the clash against Liverpool on Tuesday. The Spaniard was solid in defense but didn’t provide much going forward.

Eder Militao: 7.5/10

The best player out of Madrid’s back line. The Brazilian used his speed to swiftly cut out any danger and his passing out from the back was also top notch. Class player.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7/10

A decent performance from Rüdiger who did what he needed to. A solid shift.

David Alaba: 7/10

Started at left-back once again. The Austrian didn’t provide much in the final third but he did support Vinícius Júnior with some good runs down the left flank.

Luka Modric: 7/10

A competitive performance from the Croatian who improved as the game went on. Modric has recovered his form in recent weeks and is ready for Liverpool.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8/10

Sixth consecutive start for Camavinga in LaLiga. The Frenchman has become a regular in Real Madrid’s starting lineups and tonight’s game was evidence as to why. Camavinga was excellent in the middle of the park, drawing five fouls, making five combined tackles and interceptions, and completing 38/40 (95%) passes.

Dani Ceballos: 6/10

Another start for Ceballos. The Spaniard has been in excellent form but failed to make an impact on tonight’s game.

Fede Valverde: 8/10

Fede struggled to get going in the first half but greatly improved after the break. The Uruguayan scored the opener for Real Madrid and put in a great defensive shift.

Rodrygo Goes: 5/10

Started in place of Benzema who was rested tonight. The Brazilian had a few bright moments but didn’t affect the game at all.

Vinicius Jr: 7/10

A frustrating match from Vinicius but the Brazilian’s relentless attacks down the left flank did pay off in the end. The Brazilian assisted Valverde for the opener and scored later on only for it to be bizarrely disallowed.

Substitutions:

Marco Asensio: 7.5/10 Came on to replace Ceballos on the hour mark. The Spaniard scored Madrid’s second goal of the night in stoppage time after being found by Alvaro.

Dani Carvajal: 6.5/10 Came on to replace Nacho with 15 minutes to go.

Alvaro Rodriguez: 7/10 Came on to replace Rodrygo. The Uruguayan assisted Vinicius before the goal was disallowed and then assisted Asensio shortly after. Fantastic cameo from the 18-year old.
