Player Ratings: Inter 0-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid beat Inter Milan 2-0 at the San Siro on Wednesday moving up to second in their group. Eden Hazard gave Los Blancos an early lead, scoring from the penalty spot after Nacho was brought down in the six yard box. Hazard’s goal was enough to see Real Madrid lead at half-time.

Shortly after the restart, Arturo Vidal got two quickfire yellow cards reducing Inter to 10-men. Not long after, Rodrygo doubled Real Madrid’s lead with his first touch of the game. The Brazilian has now scored an incredible six goals in just nine Champions League appearances. These are our player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Real Madrid could have played without a goalkeeper and they would’ve still kept a cleansheet. A very relaxed day at the office for Thibaut.

Dani Carvajal: 7/10

Backed up his performance on the weekend with another great showing against Inter. The right-back has returned from injury in fantastic form.

Raphael Varane: 7/10

Varane looks to have turned a corner with his recent performances. Captain for the night, the Frenchman didn’t allow Lautaro Martinez and Lukaku a sniff on goal. Rock solid.

Nacho: 8/10

Covered for the injured Ramos brilliantly and put in an absolutely fantastic performance. Won the penalty which gave Real Madrid the lead and was a rock at the back. Tremendous.

Ferland Mendy: 7/10

Rarely troubled in defense and constantly ventured forward to help in attack.

Martin Odegaard: 7/10

Martin is slowly improving each game. The Norwegian was very accurate with his passing and looked to pick out key passes in the attacking third.

Toni Kroos: 8/10

Excellent performace from Toni. Dominated the midfield with his usual calmness and swagger. Classic Kroos display.

Luka Modric: 8/10

Yet another fantastic performance from the Croatian. With performances like this, Real Madrid will have no choice  but to offer Luka a new contract.

Lucas Vazquez: 8/10

Vazquez showed yet again exactly why Zidane has so much faith in him. Very unlucky not to score in the first-half with a shot that came off the post. Assisted Rodrygo for Real Madrid’s second goal and was a constant threat throughout the game.

Mariano Diaz: 6/10

Not Mariano’s night. The striker barely had a sniff and was replaced by Rodrygo in the second-half.

Eden Hazard: 7/10

Stepped up to take the penalty in Ramos’ absence and converted with a calm finish. Very lively performance from the Belgian in the first-half. Eden’s slowly gaining back his confidence.

Substitutions:

Casemiro: 6/10Came on in the second-half to add some more steel to the midfield.

Rodrygo: 7/10 – Came on and scored yet again against Inter this season. The youngster seems to relish playing in the Champions League.

Vinicius Jr: 6/10 Came on to replace Hazard with very little time left to play.
