Player Ratings: Huesca 1-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid came back from behind to beat Huesca 2-1 thanks to a Raphael Varane brace. Los Blancos went behind just after half-time thanks to a screamer from Huesca’s Javi Galan. Things could have gotten much worse for Madrid had it not been for a string of wonderful saves from Courtois and the crossbar.
Real Madrid survived Huesca’s onslaught and managed to find an equaliser seven minutes later. Karim Benzema struck the woodwork before Raphael Varane buried in the rebound. The goal seemed to inject life back into the Real Madrid players as they looked to find the go ahead goal.
Six minutes before regulation time was over, Toni Kroos floated a free-kick to the back post that Casemiro met with a header which was saved by Huesca’s keeper. The rebound however, fell nicely to Varane who finished with aplomb from very close range securing all three points for the champions. These are our player ratings:
Starting XI:
Thibaut Courtois: 8/10
Courtois has been one of a few Real Madrid players that have been consistent throughout this season. Today was no different, the Belgian pulled off a few fantastic saves to keep Real Madrid in the game.
Alvaro Odriozola: 5/10
Another dissapointing showing from Odriozola. The right-back failed to mark Galan for Huesca’s goal before later on coming off with an injury.
Raphael Varane: 9/10
Solid defensively putting in a few crucial tackles that stopped Huesca from testing Courtois. To add to his great performance in defence, Varane also scored both goals that ended up securing all three points for Real Madrid. Fantastic display.
Nacho: 7/10
Ferland Mendy: 7/10
Toni Kroos: 8/10
Another solid display from Real Madrid’s ever-reliable German. Unfortunately for Real Madrid, Kroos picked up a yellow card and will miss the next match against Getafe.
Casemiro: 8/10
The difference maker in midfield. Casemiro was always on hand to break up play. It was his header that forced Varane’s second goal with six minutes to go.
Luka Modric: 7/10
Yet another game where Modric demonstrated his incredible technical ability with a few incredible passes and touches on the ball. The Croatian’s influence on the game grew as time went on.
Marco Asensio: 7/10
Karim Benzema: 6/10
Vinicius Jr: 7/10
Marcelo: 6/10 – Came on for the injured Odriozola and nearly scored as soon as he came on. Injected some energy and life into Real Madrid’s play.
Marvin Park: 6/10 – Came on to replace Ferland Mendy with ten minutes to go.
Mariano: 6/10 – Came on to replace Vinicius late on.
