Player Ratings: Granada 1-4 Real Madrid

Real Madrid keep their title hopes alive with a 4-1 victory away to Granada to stay within touching distance of LaLiga leaders Atletico Madrid.

Luka Modric opened the scoring after Miguel Gutiérrez dinked a brilliant pass into the path of the Croatian who slotted the ball under Rui Silva and into the back of the net. Real Madrid doubled their lead just before half-time with Rodrygo finishing nicely after being set up by Marvin Park.

Jorge Molina managed to get a goal back for Granada with just under 20 minutes to go. Real Madrid hit back immediately to regain their two goal advantage. This time it was Alvaro Odriozola who scored after being set up by Eden Hazard. A minute later, Karim Benzema made it 4-1 after robbing the ball off Rui Silva and finishing into an empty net.

The win sees Real Madrid move to within two points of Atletico Madrid with just two games left to play. Our player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 8/10

Another brilliant performance from the Belgian. Courtois made a number of crucial saves to keep Granada from scoring a second and third goal and was unlucky not to get a clean sheet after Molina had scored for Granada following the rebound from the save he made to deny Suarez.

Marvin Park: 7/10

With Real Madrid’s lack of options in defence, Marvin was given a surprise start. The young Castilla player assisted Rodrygo for Real Madrid’s second goal before coming off at half-time.

Eder Militao: 8/10

Another solid shift at the heart of Real Madrid’s defence. The Brazilian looked comfortable and reassured at the back with Granada finding it difficult to create any real danger for him.

Nacho: 8/10

A rather comfortable outing for the Spaniard. Just like Militao, Nacho wasn’t troubled by Granada’s forwards. He often found himself on the end of set pieces for Real Madrid as he looked to make an impact on the other half of the field.

Miguel Gutiérrez: 8/10

Brilliant performance from the young left-back. The 19-year-old Spaniard put in an excellent display with the highlight being the stunning flicked pass to set up Modric for the game’s opening goal. What a way to make your first start for Real Madrid.

Fede Valverde: 8/10

Another tireless performance from the Uruguayan. Fede picked up a knock early on during the game but kept battling on to help Real Madrid secure a crucial three points in the race for LaLiga.

Casemiro: 7/10

A rather quiet night for Casemiro. The Brazilian had to be cautious throughout the game as he was one booking away from missing Madrid’s upcoming game against Athletic Bilbao.

Luka Modric: 9/10

His 55th game with club and country this season. The Croatian put in yet another brilliant performance, scoring the opener with a nicely taken finish and dominating proceedings from the middle of the park like he so often does. Such a special player.

Rodrygo: 8/10

A much improved performance from Rodrygo. The Brazilian has been struggling lately but managed to put all that behind him. He scored Madrid’s second goal just before half-time, ending a goal drought that started all the way back in November.

Karim Benzema: 8/10

Lively as always. The Frenchman was denied by Rui Silva in the first-half but managed to score in the second, robbing the ball off the Granada goalkeeper and slotting into the empty net for his 22nd league goal of the season.

Vinicius Jr: 7/10

Threatening but lacking the final touch. Vinicius had a couple of chances to score but didn’t really test Rui Silva in the Granada goal.

Substitutions:

Alvaro Odriozola: 8/10 Came on to replace Marvin Park. The right-back put in a excellent shift and managed to score to top it all off.

Isco: 6/10 Came on to replace Valverde. The Spaniard didn’t see much of the ball and therefore didn’t manage to impact the game as much as he would’ve liked.

Eden Hazard: 7/10 Came on replace Vinicius. The Belgian looked sharp once again and assisted Odriozola’s goal.

Marco Asensio: 6/10 Came on to replace Rodrygo. The Spaniard didn’t see much of the ball and didn’t have much of an impact.

Mariano Diaz: 6/10 Came on to replace Benzema. Late substitute.
