Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 7/10

Kepa looked a little shaky at the start of the game but quickly settled in. The Spaniard made a brilliant save to deny Girona early on in the second half.

Dani Carvajal: 7/10

Back in the starting line-up after missing the last two games through injury. The Spaniard was solid as has been the case all season.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7/10

Excellent performance from the German who was rock solid at the back.

Nacho Fernandez: 5/10

Just like Rüdiger, Nacho was solid and barely put a foot wrong throughout. That was until he completely lost the plot and earned a red card in stoppage time for a crazy tackle.

Eduardo Camavinga: 7.5/10

Started at left-back for the first time this season. The Frenchman put in an excellent shift and will give both Mendy and Fran Garcia a few things to worry about.

Fede Valverde: 7/10

Valverde never stops running and that was the case again today. The Uruguayan was full of legs and put in a shift in the middle of the park.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 9/10

Another excellent game from the Frenchman who was a rock in the middle of the park. Tchouaméni scored his first goal for Real Madrid with a brilliant bullet header from a Toni Kroos corner. World Class.

Toni Kroos: 7.5/10

Assisted Tchouaméni for Madrid’s second with a great cross from an in swinging corner. The German’s passing was as reliable as ever and he was more defensively solid than in prior games.

Jude Bellingham: 9/10

Back in the starting line-up after being rested in midweek. The Englishman scored his sixth goal in seven LaLiga games this season and assisted Joselu’s opener with a sensational trivela pass. Incredible player.

Joselu: 8/10

Scored Madrid’s opener after being found by a brilliant trivela assist from Bellingham. The Spaniard then assisted Bellingham for Madrid’s third goal.

Vinicius Jr: 6/10

Quiet game from the Brazilian who didn’t really get going.

Substitutions:

Rodrygo Goes: 6/10 Came on to replace Vinicius. The Brazilian didn’t see much of the ball during his time on the pitch.
