Player Ratings: Eibar 1-3 Real Madrid

Real Madrid make it five wins in a row in all competitions thanks to goals from Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez. The win sees Real Madrid move up to second in LaLiga level on points with Atletico Madrid who have two games in hand.

Real Madrid got off to a flying start with Benzema scoring after just six minutes. The Frenchman converted a beautiful chipped pass from Rodrygo to give Madrid the lead. Seven minutes later, Karim turned provider assisting Luka Modric for Real Madrid’s second of the game.

Real Madrid’s two goal advantage didn’t last long with Eibar’s Kike Garcia scoring what could be the goal of the season fifteen minutes before half-time. It wasn’t until stoppage time in the second-half where Los Blancos managed to kill of the game with Karim Benzema assisting Lucas Vazquez for the third and final goal of the night. These are our player ratings:

Starting XI:

Thibaut Courtois: 7/10

Could do absolutely nothing to stop the shot from Kike for Eibar’s goal. Other than that goal, it was a relatively routine night for the Belgian.

Dani Carvajal: 7/10

Looked to move forward whenever the chance arose. He and Lucas have formed a very good partnership on Real Madrid’s right flank.

Raphael Varane: 6/10

Not the best of performances from Varane. The Frenchman was often caught out of position and looked a little lost at times.

Sergio Ramos: 8/10

Prevented Eibar from equalising late on with an absolutely world class sliding tackle. The difference maker at the back once again.

Ferland Mendy: 8/10

Just like his Captain, Ferland put in a marvelous sliding tackle in the second-half to prevent Eibar equalising in a one-on-one situation. The Frenchman is yet to lose a match as a starter at Real Madrid!

Toni Kroos: 8/10

Controlled the tempo of the game with his usual class and looked to create chances in attack. The German put in a delicious pass for Rodrygo and constantly looked to slice Eibar’s defence open with his through balls.

Casemiro: 7/10

Allowed Modric and Kroos more freedom to create and move forward. Occasionally sloppy on the ball but held the midfield together well.

Luka Modric: 9/10

Yet another age defying performance. The Croatian put in a sensational performance in the first-half and looks to be in the form of his life at the moment. An absolute pleasure to watch.

Lucas Vazquez: 8/10

Another tireless performance from Lucas. The Galician always gives his all and tonight was no different. He played a key role in the second goal by regaining possession inside Eibar’s area. Killed off the game with a well taken goal in stoppage time.

Karim Benzema: 9/10

Back to his scintillating best. Real Madrid’s upturn in form has coincided with Benzema rediscovering his form from the past two seasons. The Frenchman was involved in all three goals and proved once again just how important he is to this team. Brilliant performance.

Rodrygo: 7/10

Started on the left flank and instantly made an impact. The Brazilian assisted Benzema’s opener with a beautiful chipped pass. Will be disappointed to not have scored himself after missing a big chance in the second-half.

Substitutions:

Asensio: 6/10 Came on to replace Rodrygo and nearly scored with a well struck free-kick.

Valverde: 6/10 Came on to replace Modric and added energy and fresh legs to the middle of the park.
