Player Ratings: Celta Vigo 1-2 Real Madrid – 2021/22

Following a lengthy international break, Real Madrid returned to winning ways on Saturday thanks to a 2-1 win against Celta Vigo at Balaidos.
Karim Benzema scored twice from the spot and missed another penalty as the league leaders bounced back from the Barcelona defeat to move 12 points clear at the top of the table.
Player ratings:
Starting XI:
Thibaut Courtois: 9/10
Another outstanding performance from the Belgian. Courtois made countless saves, saving Real Madrid’s face and keeping them in the game.
Lucas Vazquez: 6/10
Started today’s game following Carvajal’s horror show against Barcelona. The Galician put in a decent shift moving forward but struggled at times when defending. The right side of defence continues to be a big problem for Real Madrid.
Eder Militao: 5/10
Won the penalty which Benzema converted for the opener. Other than that, the Brazilian’s performance in defence didn’t inspire any confidence at all.
David Alaba: 5/10
Alaba had a rough outing with the Austrian finding it extremely difficult to handle Celta’s crosses.
Ferland Mendy: 7/10
Marco Asensio: 4/10
Karim Benzema: 8/10
Vinicius Jr: 5/10
Substitutions:
Dani Carvajal: 5/10 – Came on to replace Vazquez on the hour mark. Not much to say about his time on the pitch.
Rodrygo Goes: 7/10 – Came on to replace Asensio on the hour mark. The Brazilian put in a decent shift during his time on the pitch, winning a penalty and causing trouble to Celta’s defence.
Fede Valverde: 6/10 – Came on to replace Modric with fifteen minutes remaining.
Nacho: N/A – Came on to replace Militao late on.
Dani Ceballos: N/A – Came on to replace Kroos late on.
