Player Ratings: Cadiz 1-1 Real Madrid – 2021/22

Real Madrid drew 1-1 away to Cadiz on Sunday evening in what was their penultimate LaLiga game of the season.

Mariano opened the scoring for Los Blancos after just five minutes. Rodrygo burst past a number of Cadiz players before teeing up the Dominican striker.

Just 10 minutes before half-time, Sobrino levelled for Cadiz. The midfielder hit a wonderful strike which took a deflection off Militao before cannoning off the crossbar and into the back of the net.

Then, on the hour mark, Andriy Lunin gave away a penalty after fouling Alvaro Negredo inside the 18-yard box. The Ukrainian goalkeeper made amends by saving from the Spanish striker.

Cadiz had a number of chances to snatch all three points but Andriy Lunin was in brilliant form for Real Madrid.

Player ratings:

Starting XI:

Andriy Lunin: 9/10

His second LaLiga appearance of the season. Lunin made a number of fantastic saves and then saved a penalty which he initially gave away. Excellent display from the Ukrainian.

Lucas Vazquez: 5/10

A decent shift from the Galician who worked hard but didn’t provide much going forward.

Eder Militao: 2/10

A shocking performance from the Brazilian. Militao was all over the place and made a number of amateurish mistakes. Worrying display with the Champions league final just under two weeks away.

Jesus Vallejo: 5/10

Third consecutive start for Vallejo. The Spaniard looked a little shaky at times, but overall he put in a decent shift at the back.

Nacho: 7/10

Another solid display from Nacho. The defender has been in good form recently and tonight was no different.

Fede Valverde: 6/10

Tireless performance from the Uruguayan, as always. Fede’s place in the team is no longer up for debate.

Casemiro: 6/10

A routine performance from the Brazilian who didn’t really break sweat.

Toni Kroos: 6/10

A rather quiet first-half from the German but his influence on the game grew in the second-half. Tonight’s game was pretty much a training session for the players.

Marco Asensio: 4/10

Not much impact on the game at all from Asensio. The Spaniard didn’t create anything of note.

Mariano Diaz: 7/10

Scored Real Madrid’s only goal of the game but hardly had a sniff since that moment.

Rodrygo: 7/10

Assisted Mariano’s opener with a brilliant slaloming run. The Brazilian didn’t see much of the ball after his goal involvement.

Substitutions:

Dani Carvajal: 6/10 Came on to replace Lucas Vazquez. The Spaniard put in a solid shift but nearly gave away a penalty right at the death.

Dani Ceballos: 6/10 Came on to replace Vallejo. The midfielder came close to scoring and added energy to the team.

Eden Hazard: 6/10 Came on to replace Rodrygo for his first appearance since having surgery on his ankle. The Belgian looked sharp and lively since coming on.

Juanmi Latasa: N/A Came on to replace Mariano for his Real Madrid debut with just under 10 minutes remaining.
